1. Description of the challenge

The year 2023 was marked by renewal for the Pension Fund for the Hospitality and Catering Industry.

On July 1, 2023, the Future of Pensions Act came into effect, ushering the pension sector into a new era. Throughout 2023, the fund prepared for the implementation of this act. After an intensive process in 2023, a significant milestone was achieved at the end of January 2024 with the submission of documents to the regulators. The social partners and the board are aiming for a transition to the new pension scheme by January 1, 2025.

The Future of Pensions Act led to several changes, which were prepared in 2023. First, the entry age was adjusted from 21 to 18 years, effective January 1, 2024. This adjustment led to an increase in participants. Additionally, the Pension Fund for the Hospitality and Catering Industry revised its complaints and disputes procedure. The fund's approach is to resolve the complaint directly with the handling employee whenever possible. If this is not possible or deemed insufficient by the complainant, the complaint is then escalated to the manager and, if necessary, to the director.

Furthermore, preparations were made in 2023 for the new participant administration system, which will be implemented in 2024. This, along with the rest of the operations, will be adjusted accordingly. Step by step, we are being prepared for the transition to the new pension scheme at the beginning of 2025.

About Pensioenfonds Horeca

We manage pensions for hardworking individuals in an industry focused on excellent service and engagement. The same care and attention are central to everything we do for a good and clear pension.

For us, "good" means solid and reliable. Everyone receives the pension they are entitled to. This principle guides our processes, systems, and customer service. We offer service and convenience, and through clear communication, we create pension awareness, taking the burden off our customers.

For us, "affordable" means the power of simplicity. This involves making smart choices and thinking and acting efficiently. Our integration with the payroll tax system is one such smart choice. Combined with innovative systems, we process large volumes at low costs, doing more with less.

For us, "hospitable" means being open and accessible. Engaging in dialogue with everyone. We are here for all our customers (participants and employers) and other stakeholders. Whether digitally, through self-service, online, or in person, we are happy to assist everyone.

For us, "green" means making conscious choices in our operations, investments, and our role in society. We are involved and feel responsible. We believe it is important to contribute to a livable, sustainable world.
