1. Description of the challenge

JDE Peet's, with its global network of 45 coffee production facilities, is committed to environmental stewardship. As part of its Common Grounds Sustainability Program, JDE Peet's is intensifying efforts to minimize CO2 emissions and address other critical environmental issues. A key initiative is the development of a comprehensive biodiversity playbook for their factories. This strategic guide will:

- Enable precise measurement and reporting of each factory's biodiversity impact, utilizing a detailed scoreboard.

- Foster an interactive platform that encourages factories to exchange and adopt best practices in sustainable biodiversity management.

To ensure the playbook's effectiveness, JDE Peet's will initially focus on the two Dutch factories as a pilot project. The insights gained will inform the creation of a scalable blueprint, which will be rolled out to the remaining 43 factories. This approach underscores JDE Peet's dedication to integrating the playbook across its operations, reinforcing the company's commitment to biodiversity conservation.
