Dow's Decarbonize & Grow strategy is a comprehensive approach to sustainability that focuses on collaboration with partners to transition towards a sustainable planet and society. The strategy has evolved through three phases: operational efficiency, product solutions for global challenges, and blueprint thinking, which emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts for greater impact.
The strategy includes a clear roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, addressing the increasing demand for sustainable and circular products. Dow's commitment to ending plastic waste is evident in their Transform the Waste target, which involves building materials ecosystems for collecting, reusing, and recycling plastic waste through investments in technology, infrastructure, and strategic partnerships.
Regarding the project deliverables, the focus is on understanding the disposal processes of non-metal vehicle components in the Netherlands and the disassembly of vehicles. Additionally, it addresses the European legislation requiring new cars to contain 30% recycled content by 2025, with a portion of that being circular, sourced from the automotive industry itself. The inquiry seeks to gain insight into the waste disposal value chain for cars, beyond the concept of 'car breakers yards', to understand the full scope of end-of-life vehicle management and recycling practices.
